Youth Therapy Dog Training Program

Paws and Boots for Good is a registered charity that empowers young people through hands-on dog training while preparing future therapy dog teams to serve the community.

This fall, our Youth Therapy Dog Training Program will be taking place at Donald Hendry Hall. We’ll begin by screening family dogs to find those well suited to the program. Over the following five months, youth will be matched with screened dogs and learn relationship-based training built on trust, responsibility and positive connection. As their skills develop, the youth and dogs will also take part in supervised therapy visits in the community.

We are very grateful to Mimico Presbyterian Church for welcoming our program and providing a space where young people and dogs can learn and grow together.

We also hope to hold a community showcase in March, where everyone will be welcome to come and see the youth and dogs in action. Our Therapy Crew graduation takes place in June and is another wonderful opportunity to celebrate the impact of the program and the therapy dog teams that go on to bring comfort and connection to schools, libraries, seniors’ residences and other community settings.
